The Market Challenge

Metropolitan area networks (MANs) are experiencing an ongoing evolution from TDM traffic to Ethernet traffic. Today’s metro networks are required to support emerging video applications, which require rapid capacity growth, as these services are adopted. To accommodate these trends, service providers need a single cost-effective, efficient, scalable and reliable network that can carry all traffic types.

SONET/SDH, circuit-based networks, designed to handle voice traffic are not bandwidth-efficient or cost-effective when required to support rapidly growing amounts of data traffic.

The first generation of Carrier Ethernet solutions provided scalable delivery of Ethernet services, but did not offer the resiliency, deterministic QoS, or support for traditional TDM traffic.

Corrigent’s Carrier Ethernet Transport product lines represent a new equipment category that overcomes the limitations of both legacy approaches and introduces scalability, resiliency, QoS guarantee, and provides a compelling business case for carriers looking to build their next generation metro transport networks.
