CM-4000 CET Product Line

Corrigent’s CM-4000 Carrier Ethernet Transport switches pioneer the next generation of Carrier Ethernet equipment. These products provide the best combination of carrier Ethernet functionality and intelligent video processing, as well as full support of legacy SONET/SDH capabilities, fueling true network convergence over a single platform and significant OPEX reduction by consolidating OSS.

The CM-4000 is a high-capacity MPLS-based Carrier Ethernet transport switch providing high service availability and scalability, and simplified end-to-end “point-and-click” management via its service/application-oriented CM-View NMS.

Corrigent’s CM-4000 product line includes the CM-4314 and CM-4206 systems, which provide non-blocking switching capacity of 320 Gbps and 160 Gbps, in-service scalable to 640 and 320 Gbps, respectively. It provides in-service scalability of network-side links to up to 100 Gbps through advanced link bonding technologies. It can be deployed in any topology, including ring, mesh and tree, over one or multiple 10 Gbps wavelengths.

By cost-effectively enabling any mix of Ethernet and TDM traffic over the same network infrastructure, the CM-4000 secures service providers’ investment, enabling deployment of advanced residential Multi-Play and business Ethernet services, together with traditional TDM services, and the means to gradually migrate them to Ethernet through interworking technologies.

The CM-4000 introduces new video processing capabilities making it an ideal solution for IPTV and the new realm of personalized video services. Advanced video transrating capabilities allow service providers to maximize revenues from the existing DSL installed base by extending services to larger subscriber bases. Personalized ad insertion capabilities provide new revenue opportunities for telcos and content providers, and in combination with sophisticated traffic management improve subscribers’ Quality of Experience (QoE).

Services and Applications

Corrigent’s CM-4000 was designed to efficiently deliver any mix of TDM and advanced packet services over a single, converged transport infrastructure. It offers a unique application- and service-aware traffic management scheme, which guarantees end-to-end performance during congestion, and enables dynamic bandwidth reclamation and optimal bandwidth utilization at all times for the delivery of the following packet and TDM services:

  • E-Line, E-Tree and E-LAN services with differentiated QoS, application-aware classification and SLA guarantee
  • Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS)
  • SONET/SDH to Ethernet Interworking
  • The full range of TDM Private Line services
  • Non-blocking SONET/SDH low-order and high-order cross connect

These services enable the delivery of end-user applications such as Multi-Play (VoIP, broadcast video, VoD, shifted TV, nPVR, HSI), Business Ethernet, 3.5G/4G wireless backhaul and on-demand content distribution. They also facilitate the migration towards all-IP by providing a viable path to convergence through the introduction of SONET/SDH to Ethernet Interworking.
