Improving Operational Efficiency with CM-View
Corrigent's CM-View NMS is a high-end management and service provisioning system, providing “transport-like” management capabilities for next generation Metro Networks. It eliminates the need for costly and complex CLI provisioning and it offers a significant OPEX reduction.

CM-View NMS further provides an advanced user-friendly management solution enabling quick service provisioning and extremely fast time to revenue.
CM-View NMS supports Corrigent's Carrier Ethernet Transport (CET) product line. It is a proven carrier-class, fully-integrated network and element management system. This flexible, modular design allows service providers to install a mix of element managers required to support the metro and access networks.

CM-View NMS runs on Sun Solaris Microsystems servers centralizing fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security (FCAPS) management within the same NMS umbrella.
The CM-View NMS robust and scalable design allows the investment to be aligned with revenues and easily scales from small to large networks, supporting up to hundreds of thousands of network elements in a distributed and highly-availability architecture.
CM-View NMS is successfully managing one of the largest packet-based networks in the world, catering for management and end-to-end service provisioning of thousands of network element on a national scale.

Software Architecture
The CM-View consists of four main modules: Client GUI, Front-End Server (FES), Back-End Server (BES) and Database Server (DBS). These modules can be located within the same single server or distributes among multiple servers.

Corrigent Software Architecture

  • Client GUI
The goal of the NMS is to deliver superior and reliable management applications, controlled and monitored from the same screen, to meet the customer needs with a rich set of functions.

  • Front End Server (FES)
The FES is an application server that provides management functions, as well as a Web access to the management information. The FES supports multiple requests from many GUI clients and, on the other end, notifies the GUI clients with any failure or topological change.

  • Back-End Server
The BES consists of the core business logic related to the management functions, such as fault, configuration, performance, software download, and service provisioning. It provides services such as data collection, data modification, notification, asynchronous event processing, and auto-discovery.
The BES is connected to each one of the network elements through in-band of out-of-band, and it includes a network level and an element level.

  • Database Server (DBS)
The DBS is based on the Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). The DBS consists of persistent and history data, such as user data, system parameters, network topology, inventory, profiles, services, connections, alarms, and performance monitoring. .

Ease of Use
Intuitive point-and-click and simple provisioning and management tasks allow consistent rollout, reduces overall network OPEX and improves network utilization and availability. Extremely fast VPLS provisioning is achieved by using templates.

Multiservice Management
The CM-View enables seamless management of E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, TDM and interworking services, fully controlled through end-to-end graphical views. The management approach is the same for both Ethernet and SONET/SDH, with the same user experience and methodology (e.g. 15-minutes PM intervals, end-to-end service provisioning).

Scalability
CM-View is an extremely scalable system in terms of nodes, services, users and events. It is possible to start as low as several nodes and scale up the existing network rapidly and efficiency to meet business needs. The system can handle over 10,000 metro switches and 100,000 access switches with 200 concurrent users and over a million different services.

Northbound Interfaces
CM-View offers a unique interface to other service applications at the OSS level, significantly accelerating the time-to-market and drastically reducing the effort of integration.

Auto Discovery
Auto-discovery enables plug-and-play features at the card, node and system level. CM-View automatically discovers and updates in real time the elements in the network, the inventory and the end-to-end services.

Topologies and Surveillance Maps
Having network visibility on graphical maps and simple navigation through hierarchical topologies is a number one priority for FCAPS fulfillment. Surveillance maps give the administrator complete network status and enable a quick response to any issue that may arise. Inventory can be shown in administrative views, as well as with topological links in network graphical views. Furthermore, point-to-point and multipoint services can be fully managed through the network graphical views.

Folders
A CM-View user can build a personal topology view in the Folder directories. Each folder view is a combination of devices and topologies, and can be shown as a surveillance map with a customized view. In order to reflect the actual network topology, any third-party node (off-network) can be added to the view with its appropriate connectivity.

Security
CM-View enables administrators to create individual and group permission levels and accesses, preserving the integrity of the super user and preventing unauthorized access.

Faults
CM-View supports alarm monitoring, fault isolation and root-cause analysis. Advanced workflow and analysis functions include:

  • Fast detection and troubleshooting
  • Color-coded alarms for easy identification Alarm correlation
  • Alarm propagation on physical and logical topologies
  • Alarm suppression and severity configuration
  • Detailed alarm description and overview
  • Dynamic alarm reports
  • History alarm reports
  • Export alarms as CSV
